Organise
a Fundraising Campaign
Most
of you will have been involved in fundraising activities in
School. There are so many ways to excite and motivate children, but we
at REDEARTH believe that it is not just about fundraising, it is about
learning.
Children learn so much from brainstorming ideas, organising and masterminding
a campaign. They also have a great sense of satisfaction and achievement
at the end of such a campaign.
Other fundraising
activities:
· Uganda no Uniform
Day
· Organise a ‘Fair
Trade’ sale
· Bring and Buy sale
· Sponsored events
We’d love to hear of any great ideas we could send
to other schools. If you have anything to suggest or report please write
them HERE
Other
Classroom Activities
·
Check
out Google Earth to locate Uganda and the town of Masindi.
· Design and make
an item from plastic water bottles which could be of use to a Ugandan
child
· Make pots out of
local clay. Look at these pictures of pots made by the children
· Make a play house
from sticks and grasses like the Ugandans.
· Get involved in
Fair Trade – set up a fair Trade tuck shop
Many
items are re-used in Uganda. However, many plastic water bottles are thrown
away. We would love to hear of your ideas as part of our training of teachers
involves using local materials to make classroom resources. You may come
up with a great idea which could actually be used in Ugandan classrooms
that have no other resources. If you design something which we think is
exceptionally useful we will take your idea to Uganda and take photographs
for our blog of it being used in classrooms!
