Where do we work? Our work centres on Uganda which is a country bordered by Sudan, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Democratic Republic of Congo. Since the late 1980’s Uganda has rebounded from an abyss of civil war and economic catastrophe to become relatively stable. The present President, Yoweri Museveni, has introduced democratic reforms and has been credited with improving human rights. Masindi is made up of a number of districts. Masindi is on the north western side where our work centres. Masindi has a population of around 265.000 across an area of some 9,326 Km square. Masindi town is the centre of the district. It is a relatively small town with banks, administrative and communication centre, small shops and a busy market. In the last few years improvements and development have occurred in the town due to businesses moving back to Masindi.
Over the years that we have been returning to Masindi, we have enjoyed many trips to the Murchison Falls National Park, about 2 ½ hours drive from Masindi Town. These have been day-trips or journeys lasting many days and each return journey has been exciting and enjoyable, with new experiences and surprises. The landscape and diversity of wildlife are breathtaking, including, among many others, lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe, crocodile, hippopotamus, chimpanzees and a wonderful variety of bird life. There are other national parks in Ugandan though Murchison Falls is acknowledged to be the among the very best. We at Redearth recommend Yebo Tours to any of you who may consider experiencing this excellent adventure for yourselves. Just follow the link to their website for more information.
